Wild Times
For this project I designed for a nature conservation called Mongabay kids, and wanted a design to showcase the pollution and endangered animal species that are native to Nebraska. Mongabay Kids is an educational website focused on teaching children about nature, biodiversity, and conservation. Their section Wild Tines offers various interactive features like the "Wild Library," "Wild Lab," puzzles, games, and comics to make learning fun and engaging. The platform provides content for both kids and educators, encouraging environmental awareness through informative articles, interviews, and challenges related to wildlife and ecosystems. It's a part of Mongabay's larger mission to inspire environmental conservation in younger generations.
Cover
This cover was designed with Nebraska wildlife conservation in mind. The whole idea of the scene is to show how local species are affected because of human actions. There are five animal species native to Nebraska in this poster, with four of them being endangered species with the exception of the American Bison. The other four species include the Swift Fox, Timber Rattlesnake, Whooping Crane. and the Thick-Billed Longspur. The scene is supposed to depict these endangered animals working together in their natural environment to build a sign
to help raise awareness of their habitat loss.
Wild Lab
To go along with the cover I wanted to make a game page to help add some context and teach young people how human waste is ruining our ecosystems. To keep the kids interested, the page includes a plastic timeline showing the history and evolution of plastic production, a word search on 6 different ways plastic affects Nebraska's wildlife, and a comic called Prairie Patrol where a Swift Fox and a raccoon work together to throw out waste. These elements are all shown below.
